Meet #1 Home vs. Sandston-Entries & Info

Hi Wahoo Families!

We hope everyone is excited for the first Home Meet of the season against the Sandston Stingrays! Please plan to arrive at the pool by 3:00pm. Our warm-ups are at 3:30pm. The meet will start promptly at 4:00pm.

Parking: To welcome our guests we’d like to reserve the main parking lot for them. Please walk, park in the lower lot, or park on the street. Our guests will be sitting on the left side of the pool (if you are facing the pool from the entrance) along the retaining walls. Wahoos will sit on the right side, in between the diving well and baby pool. Some pool chairs will be available, however, you may want to bring your own just in case.

Check-In: There will be a table by the pool as you first walk in. Erin Lowery will be checking in Volunteers. After you get seated please check-in with Erin and get a name badge (even if you aren’t volunteering until the second half). Abbey, Erica, and Molly will be at another table near the diving well where your Swimmer will need to put their stuff down and go directly to check-in with us. Please have them write down their events on their hand with sharpie before coming to the pool.

SWIMMERS:

-Get good rest the night before.

-Hydrate really well the day of.

-Come ready to have fun! Your hard work in practice will shine through in your races!

-Avoid sugary food and drink before and during the Meet.

-Keep it positive!

-Remember your good sportsmanship! You practice it everyday, encourage and cheer on your teammates at the Meet!

-What to Bring: towel(s), goggles, swim cap, healthy snacks, team suit, chairs, sharpies, sunscreen, card games and toys (baby pool will be closed), $ for food, WATER!

PARENTS:

-You are an important part of the team! Your support matters!

-Keep it positive especially after races. Think about the last time you worked really hard on something (maybe a race, built something, led a project at work) and shared your efforts with your family. Were you hoping for their support or immediate critiques of your accomplishments? Probably not! Help them focus on the effort and help them learn their times as that is where they will be able to see their personal progress. Enjoy this season with your Swimmers, and as their Coaches we will focus on how to help your Swimmer improve and grow throughout the season.

-For both practice and Meets please refrain from sideline coaching. This can be confusing to the Swimmers and inhibit the Coaches from doing their jobs.

SWIM TEAM SUITS & CAPS:

-Wear your team suit to compete. If you do not have a team suit or jammer a suit with black and dark blue (team suit colors) is accepted.

-Swimmers wearing caps must wear the cap of their summer league team or a cap with nothing on it. They cannot wear their USA Swimming or high school team cap.

-Swimmers with long hair are required to wear it up in a ponytail or in a swim cap.

- Girls: No tie-back jolyn suits are allowed or any type of suit with a tie.

- Boys: Suits must not go above the navel or below the knees. Make sure your swimmer's suit fits properly.

Exemptions will be granted only for conflicts due to the swimmer’s verified religious beliefs, verified medical conditions or other reasons deemed appropriate. You must have a note for me to turn in to the Referee BEFORE the meet starts in order for them to be exempt. For more information: JRAC Rulebook

**Swim Caps** Why wear them?-

  • Prevents Hair from Getting in Your Face
  • Eliminates Drag (So You Can Swim Faster)
  • Keeps Hair Out of the Pool
  • Helps Your Fans (Parents/Family) Spot You in the Pool

Our hospitality team will be offering freshly grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers (cash only), and the Kona Ice truck will be onsite.

Swimmers Aging Up & New Swimmers: Aging into an older age group can be a challenging season for your Swimmer. If you have a Swimmer who is aging up into an older age group, especially the 9/10 age group, they will need some extra encouragement this season as the transition to the next level. They can do it! They will benefit from your help to guide them to focus on time improvements and all of the effort and hard work they are putting in.

For New to Swim Swimmers: their progress and what they are learning will take time. Expect to see visible growth and progress at least 1 month in, typically you will start to see change around the 3rd Swim Meet.

Volunteer Info: Swim meets are one of the most fun parts of swim team. It takes A LOT of volunteers to make each meet happen so just like most summer swim teams, Woodmont relies on parent volunteers.

Having enough Volunteers means the meets start on time, run on time and run smoothly. Not to mention your Swimmer will be cheering you on, too!

We are thankful to each one of you for your time and for sharing your Swimmers with us this season.
