Meet dates and practice schedules
We are keeping our team website updated with dates and other important information as we receive it from our league, JRAC. Meet dates are posted, and practices will begin Monday, May 12 (dry land if the water is too chilly). The first Swim Meet will be June 2, and the first Dive Meet will be June 12. The season will conclude with Dive Champs on July 14/15 and Swim Champs on July 16.
Swim & Dive registration will open in early April
Watch for an email the first week of April for Swim and Dive team registration to begin. Registration is open to all Woodmont Pool members age 5-18. For safety and to get the most out of practice, Swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted (doggie paddle is completely fine!) The first week of in-the-water practice, there will be a swim assessment for our youngest swimmers, and for those new to the team. Swimmers who are not yet quite ready for Swim team will be referred to our Junior Wahoos program, where they will be able to work on their swim skills in a smaller group setting. Now is a great time to get in some swim lessons to get ready for the season if you have a new swimmer!
2025 team coaches
We are thrilled to have many returning coaches for the 2025 Swim and Dive season! Coach Luke will return to lead the Swim team as Head Coach, Coach Sophia returns as Assistant Coach, and we are hiring for another Assistant Swim Coach. Coach Stephanie will once again lead our Junior Wahoos program. Coach Mason and Coach Xavier return to lead the Dive team. Our coaches are committed to leading the teams guided by the principles of good sportsmanship, teamwork, individual and team improvement, and competitiveness with a focus on fun. If you know someone who might be interested in joining our swim coaching team this year, please share the job description with them. We have a great season ahead!
The team needs your help
Lots of information about training and volunteer requirements for meets will be coming soon, but there are other things that keep our team having fun and moving forward that take people power to pull off! Please reply to this email if you (or you and a friend!) can step up to help with any of these activities:
- Duck Dive–We need two more people to help coordinate our biggest fundraiser of the season.
- Team Banquet–This is where we honor all of the hard work our athletes do, and eat some pretty good food. We need two people to take over the Banquet this year.
- Spirit Wear–We need one more person to help with selling swim caps at swim meets.
- Dive Parent Rep to the JRAC Board–not to be confused with our Woodmont Dive Rep to the League, Becky Pritchett, this is an additional position with minimal requirements, but would give us another dive voice on the JRAC Board. Contact Becky with questions.
It’s chilly again today, but summer is right around the corner. Until then, Go Wahoos!
