It's Almost Time! 2026 Woodmont Swim & Dive Update
It's almost summertime, Wahoos!
Well, maybe we have a little ways to go, but after a winter of ice, snow, and frigid temps, warmer days are *finally* right around the corner! We are excited to be getting ready for the 2026 Swim and Dive Season! Read on below for important Wahoos news and updates.
New Swim Head Coach Xander Schreck
We are thrilled to share that Xander Schreck will be our 2026 Swim Head Coach! Coach Xander swam for Woodmont for many years and is a rising senior and swimmer at Old Dominion University. He brings several years of experience as a swim lesson instructor and as an assistant summer swim team coach, and he has been a swimmer for NOVA for 15 years. We are very excited to have him leading our team this year!
Meet dates and practice schedules
Our team website is updated with meet dates and other important information that we have received so far from our league, JRAC. Practices will begin Monday, May 18 (dry land if the water is too chilly.) The first Swim Meet will be June 8, and the first Dive Meet will be June 11.
Swim & Dive registration will open in early April
Watch for an email the first week of April for Swim and Dive team registration to begin. Registration is open to all Woodmont Pool members age 5-18. For safety and to get the most out of practice, swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted (doggie paddle is completely fine!) The first week of in-the-water practice, there will be a swim assessment for our youngest swimmers, and for those new to the team. Swimmers who are not yet quite ready for swim team will be referred to our Junior Wahoos program, where they will be able to work on their swim skills in a smaller group setting. Now is a great time to get in some swim lessons to get ready for the season if you have a newer swimmer!
We are looking forward to warm days in the sunshine together soon. Go Wahoos!
