Team Registration Now Open! 2026 Woodmont Wahoos Swim & Dive Team

Woodmont Wahoos Swim & Dive Team registration is now open to all pool members! Click here to register today
Note that Swimtopia has made some updates to the registration process and you will be asked to sign in and confirm the names that should be on your family account.

The opening of the 2026 season is right around the corner! This is a big email with lots of information and helpful links to help prepare for the season.

  • Swim and Dive team members must be Woodmont Pool members*, aged 5-18. Click here to join our friendly, laid-back pool. Click here to register for Swim & Dive team.

*Note: If you are a member of another area pool that does not have a Dive team, we welcome you to join the Woodmont Dive team for an additional fee. Reply to this email to request a Dive-Team-Only registration form. Swim team members must be Woodmont pool members.

  • Practices start on Monday, May 18, and may include dryland and team building activities depending on water temperature. Practice schedules include an evening Swim practice option for those swimmers who are not able to make the morning practices and would not be able to join swim team unless they can practice in the evenings. There will be an option to select the evening practice option when you register.
  • There will be a required parent meeting on Wednesday, May 20 at 6:30pm following practices. Meet the coaches, learn more about volunteer requirements, and meet other team families.
  • Meet dates are set and posted on our team site.
  • For safety and to get the most out of practice, young swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted (Doggie paddle is totally fine! Pausing on the ropes for a breath is totally fine as long as your swimmer starts again and crosses the pool unassisted!) New team members will be assessed during the first week of in-the-water practice and any young swimmers who are not quite able to swim the length of the pool unassisted will be referred to our Junior Wahoos program.

Get your gear on!

We have a great season planned, with competitive meets and fun team events. VA Swim Shop will be at practices on Wednesday, May 27 from 4:30-6:30pm to fit everyone for our official team suits. Team suits can also be purchased from VA Swim Shop at their NOVA Regency location if you miss their onsite visit to Woodmont. A percentage of the total of your purchase through VA Swim Shop comes back to the Wahoos.

You will see in the registration form that Lee Hutchinson of The Strum Group real estate team is sponsoring FREE t-shirts for all of our team members this year, thanks for the support and team spirit, Lee!

Want to show more Wahoo team spirit? Athletes, family members, and friends can purchase additional gear at the Woodmont Rec online store. (Please note that team suits are not available for purchase here.)

Volunteer Requirement & Training

Swim meets are one of the best parts of swim team! It takes A LOT of volunteers to make each meet happen so each swim family is required to earn 8 volunteer points a season. All returning swim families are required to attend a volunteer training run by our league, JRAC. New swim families do not have to participate in JRAC volunteer training and can earn their required points by volunteering for untrained roles like timer, runner, hospitality, or 8 & Under parent.

Returning families, be on the lookout for another email in the coming weeks with the training sign-up and a lot more info about the training requirement. In the meantime, please start to think about which trained role would be the best fit for your family. You can learn more about the different roles and the training requirements on our Swimtopia web site, and we are happy to chat with you to help you find the role that works best for you.

Trained Roles:Strokes and Turns Judge, Referee, Clerk of Course, Computer, Head Table, Starter, Head Timer

Critical Roles Trained Through Shadowing: These roles are key to running a meet, but do not require JRAC training. You can train via shadowing during swim meets and will be exempt from JRAC training. Volunteer Coordination Team, Set-up Lead, Announcer, Hospitality Lead, Meet Director, Banquet planning

Swim meets are a big lift, but many hands make light work. If you have any questions please reach out to the Volunteer Coordination Team (Erin Lowery, Jenny Reeves, & Connie Wooldridge - maybe you!)

Sponsor the Wahoos!

And finally, we have lots of fun ways throughout the season to support the team, from the Duck Dive Family Event to concession sales and the 50/50 raffles. We also rely on businesses, families, and community members to be Team Sponsors. On the registration form there is an opportunity to sign up to become a Family & Friends sponsor and be recognized on our website for your support of the team. If you or someone you know would like to be a business sponsor, check out the various sponsorship levels and benefits here.

If you have any questions, an Aquatics Committee member will be happy to talk with you. Don’t hesitate to reach out!

Looking forward to a fantastic season,

The Aquatics Committee
